[personal profile] carnagevisors

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before? Lived in a state other than Ohio for one solid year. (Georgia and Texas have, however, only strengthened my longing for the motherland. Sorry... y'all.)

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? If I made any resolutions, I can't stinking remember what they are. I do have a few goals for this year, however: lose 50 pounds by my birthday, stop needing the Zoloft forever, and get a job that won't trigger a nutbar breakdown.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No, thank hell.

4. Did anyone close to you die? My husband's grandfather; he was always super nice to me when John and I first started dating and I first visited Logan (when my primary concern was people looking at this strange colored lady in their town), so it was strange for him to not be around anymore.

5. What countries did you visit? Almost moved to near the DMZ in Korea. Whoops!

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? A sane job. More money. Perhaps one new friend that has no connection to military life, plus better friendships with current friends.

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Just our first wedding anniversary (May 2)--John made a homecooked dinner. It was very sweet.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Going back to a four-year university full-time. It was pretty awesome and I finally felt good about myself, like I wasn't a total failure.

9. What was your biggest failure? Not working... again. But I do realize that I have to be careful about the types of jobs I take. I'm definitely ready to work again, but I don't want to relapse again.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing major, aside from the run-of-the-mill anemia and a relapse of depression.

11. What was the best thing you bought? I sort of bought it? (John bought it, then I reimbursed him), but my Kindle. The e-ink is pretty freaking amazing, especially for someone with sensitive eyes like mine.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? One more year my grandmother isn't driven insane by my other relatives is cause enough for celebration.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My cousin. No one else in my family has ever been dumb enough to a) try the pillow-under-sheets trick and think it still worked, b) take his father's car for a joyride in the middle of the night c) at such a slow speed that the police inevitably noticed, d) all just to visit a girl. He has a court date this month.

14. Where did most of your money go? Books. Coffee...lots of it. Hobby Lobby, buying craft supplies.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Nothing that requires three reallys, at least.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010? Since I listened to it so frequently, The Cure - Carnage Visors.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer? Sadder, I think. Definitely fatter. I wish I could say richer, but it's not money I personally earned, so.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Talking to friends, even if I was grumpy or depressed or didn't feel well in general. Being decisive and taking initiative.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Procrastinating. Being so worried about what other people thought about me.

20. How did you spend Christmas? With John in Texas (going back to Ohio would have been a bitch). Had a 5 lb. ham and mashed potatoes and it was more than enough of a dinner for the two of us.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010? I hope not, or else we have problems!

22. What was your favorite TV program? Divorce Court, ha.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Not really. In fact, I've decided to let some hate go.

24. What was the best book you read? Party of One: The Loners' Manifesto by Anneli Rufus.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Obviously not a new artist to me, but I found some of The Cure's B-sides that I'd never paid attention to before, and there are some amazing, completely underrated songs.

26. What did you want and get? The Kindle was the big one. Also a new phone (HTC Incredible). The burr coffee grinder and french press John got me for Xmas--total surprise. :)

27. What did you want and not get? Exciting weather. It's actually pretty disappointing, because I always had something to look forward to in Cincinnati.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? I'll admit, I walked into Inception with some serious reservations, but I was impressed.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 23, and umm negl, I don't remember. lol oh well.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Less conflict with my husband on that one issue.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? Lots of black coupled with I really don't care, as usual.

32. What kept you sane? I was not sane last year.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? No one, really.

34. What political issue stirred you the most? Midterm elections; more specifically, the complacency of non-voters in my age group, plus some reproductive rights issues that were at stake. (I can get pretty grumpy when it comes to women's bodily autonomy.)

35. Who did you miss? My grandmother. She's pretty awesome. ;~;

36. Who was the best new person you met? Only new person I've met is my neighbor across the street, and given that I've only been here for about a month and a half, I can't make a judgment.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. Don't hold in things that make you angry. It will only build up, turn into festering bitterness, and eventually spill out onto people who don't deserve it.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Let me back
Let me back
I promise to be good
Don't look in the mirror
At the face you don't recognize
Help me call the doctor
Put me inside
Put me inside
Put me inside
Put me inside
Put me inside
